
Short introduction on biomass and biofuels.
Biomass is renewable organic material that originates from living organisms such as plants and animals. Unlike other renewable energy sources, biomass can be converted directly into liquid fuels, called ‘biofuels’, to help meet transportation fuel needs. Replacing fossil fuels with biofuels produced from these organic materials has the potential to reduce some undesirable aspects of fossil fuel production.
