Electrical Chargeman/ Wireman Grade 2/ Grade 1/ L1

Electricity is the driver of every home and industry. It is very crucial that the installation and wiring of electric equipment should follow the Sarawak Electricity Ordinance. Industrial Three-Phase Electrical Installations are within the scope of the Building Regulations and installed in accordance with the electricity rules 1999. All new Industrial electrical facilities, together with specific alterations and additions to current installations, will have to be inspected and comply with strict electrical safety performance standards. The course covers standards, the design, wiring and installation, inspection and testing of domestic electrical work, and information provision.

Basic Occupational First Aid (BOFA) certification course

Corporate strategy execution depends upon development and First aid is the immediate care given to a person who has been injured or suddenly taken ill. It includes self-help and home care if medical assistance is not available or is delayed. It also includes well-selected words of encouragement, evidence of willingness to help and promotion of confidence by demonstrating competence.

Power Quality in Electrical Installations of Buildings (Causes, Effects and Mitigations Techniques and Protection against Lightning to BS EN / IEC 62305)

Electric power quality is the degree to which the voltage, frequency, and waveform of a power supply system conform to established specifications. Good power quality can be defined as a steady supply voltage that stays within the prescribed range, steady a.c. frequency close to the rated value, and smooth voltage curve waveform (resembles a sine wave). In general, it is useful to consider power quality as the compatibility between what comes out of an electric outlet and the load that is plugged into it. In new constructions, protection and power quality can be addressed from the design stage. For existing buildings, power monitoring equipment can be used to detect harmonics or low power factor, and the measurement results are then used to specify harmonic filters and capacitors.

Design, Construction, Operation, Protection and Testing of Transformers (IEC Standard)

William Stanley, the man who built the first reliable commercial transformer says “Transformer is the heart of the alternating current system”. Transformer is the most important unit in an electrical distribution network. All transformers are subjected to various tests at the manufacturer’s test laboratory before dispatch to the destination of erection. The normal lifetime of a transformer is 25 years. This course is intended to give an understanding about the Distribution and Power Transformers

This programme serves as a public training programme to provide opportunities to engineers all over Malaysia to get an overall idea about what a transformer is.

Electrical Construction Practises and Problem Faced

In Sarawak and worldwide, there is a significant expansion in the electrical industry. This course starts from the very basics of the electrical industry such that even people who have zero knowledge in electrical power can attend. The course focuses on the current systems used in electrical power construction and solutions to these problems. This programme serves as a public training programme for engineering students in UCTS and engineers and technicians all over Malaysia. Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM) CPD points can be achieved from this course. Contractors and achieve CCD points from CIDB to renew their contractor license.

Communication Technology

The Programme aims to expose Kolej Vokasional Sibu students with basic knowledge and practical skills on Telecommunication Technologies. By the end of this course, students will be able to describe the basic elements of a communication system, identify and describe analogue and digital modulation techniques, describe data communications and computer networks, and perform a simple local area network (LAN) setup.

Residual Life Assessment of Power Transformers

The normal lifetime of a transformer is 25 years. Residual life assessment is required to determine the condition of the Transformer in order to identify the most vulnerable component of the equipment. Based on the evaluation, utilities can develop a strategic plan for a particular population of equipment in such a way so as to maximize the availability and utilization by avoiding unexpected failures and at the same time minimizing risk. This course is intended to give an understanding about the care take measures on a Power Transformers. This programme serves as a public training programme for the budding engineers in UCTS and engineers all over Malaysia.
