Centre for Research of Innovation and Sustainable Development (CRISD)

Background and Overview

The Centre for Research of Innovation and Sustainable Development (CRISD) is a newly established research centre at the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS). It serves as a dynamic hub for gathering research expertise, students, and industries in collaborative multidisciplinary projects.

At CRISD, we aim to cultivate cutting-edge research and technological advancements through an interdisciplinary approach, fostering innovation and progress. Our focus is on developing pioneering process technologies aimed at enhancing future industry standards and quality of life.

Staffs at SET work in four multidisciplinary areas: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Food Technology. Each staff member conducts research within their respective clusters. Research grants foster collaboration among staff, students, and industries.

We are dedicated to sustainable development, creating technologies that minimize environmental impact, conserve natural resources, and promote economic efficiency.

Our team of experts is committed to conducting high-impact research and initiatives that directly benefit both industry and society. In addition to research endeavours, CRISD organises training programs, seminars, and public lectures to further disseminate knowledge and promote engagement in our niche areas.

The objective, vision, mission and operational structure of CRISD are aligned with the UCTS core values: Commitment, Integrity, Caring, Enterprising, and Green.
